What makes this program different?

  • We believe that pregnancy, birth, and parenting require tremendous strength and stamina and so we share a strong, empowering, yet evidence-based approach to prenatal and postnatal yoga.

  • We approach pregnancy and postpartum as deeply spiritual and transformative times and so our classes incorporate an innate physicality as well as dedicated time for meditation, chanting, breath work, community-building, and concrete steps for taking the practice off the mat and into the spaces of pregnancy, labor and delivery, and parenting.

  • Lily brings a rich specificity to her teaching that comes from over two decades in the field of yoga.
Our Guest Faculty bring diverse perspectives rooted in decades of experience in their fields, including: Pelvic Floor PT, Full Spectrum Doula, Doula and Childbirth Prep Ed, and Trauma Informed Yoga.
Trainees and graduates of this program have noted that the ample time to integrate, practice-teach, and receive detailed feedback from Lily and their peers has given them new insights into their teaching unlike other TT programs that oversaturate with too much information and theory and not enough time for integration and practical application.

  • Grads of this program consistently report that the Anatomy of the Pelvic Floor module with the Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist is hands down the best anatomy module they have ever received in a YTT

  • This program encourages critical thinking and problem solving, which requires a deeper level of understanding than memorized sequences and top-down dogmatic approaches to yoga, theory, and alignment. Home Yoga PYTT welcomes your questions and is based on self-inquiry. We will never make you feel small for asking a question.

  • We believe the art of teaching prenatal yoga requires a capacity to problem solve, think on your toes, and teach to the individual within a group setting since each trimester is unique and the pregnancy discomforts specific to each student and energetic needs in the class setting are unique. Adapting to these challenges makes graduates not only excellent and well-prepared pre and postnatal yoga teachers but also builds the skillsets for working with private clients and providing better instruction in all their yoga classes.

  • Trainees and graduates of this program love the close-knit and positive group dynamic fostered within each training cohort. Lily believes deeply in intentionality of weaving sacred space and honoring each individual within a group for their unique strengths. Each session begins with the auspicious teacher-student prayer for harmonizing our energy and acknowledging the challenges that may arise on any learning path of growth. Each trainee feels respected for the wisdom, perspective, and experience they bring to the cohort. Each group creates bonds together that are deeply transformative, uplifting, and form lifelong friendships.

    Who is this program for?:

The training is open to yoga teachers, aspiring yoga teachers, birth workers, anyone who is pregnant, trying to get pregnant, or postpartum, and anyone who feels called to learn more about pregnancy and yoga. (And yes - you can take this training even if you do not have a uterus and even if you have never had a baby.)

3 Components of this Training:

  1. Live Zoom Call Schedule (recorded if you miss a session)

    October 10 | 13, 2024 : 4-8 pm EST thu | 2-6 pm EST sun

    October 15 | 17 | 20, 2024 : 4-8 pm EST tue/thu | 2-6 pm EST sun

    November 5 | 7 | 10, 2024 : 4-8 pm EST tue/thu | 2-6 pm EST sun

    November 14 | 17, 2024 : 4-8 pm EST thu | 2-6 pm EST sun

  2. Recorded Lectures on your private Teacher Trainee Portal through my website

Each week you will be responsible to find 90 minutes to watch/listen to recorded content to prepare for our group live zoom calls and an equal time to practice and integrate your notes on the recorded content so that you have a strong grasp of the materials. Expect to spend 2-3 hours on recorded lectures and content review each week.

Once you complete payment and registration for the training, you will receive a welcome email the first week of September to create a login to access the Teacher Trainee Portal on my website.

  3. Sadhana - making sacred space for yoga practice in your life

A sadhana is a sacred yoga practice - a weaving of pranayama, meditation, self inquiry, intention, and yogic theory into the fabric of the yoga poses - so that the practice can work its magic in your life on and off the mat. Yoga is a cumulative path. The only way to embody the teachings and so be able to share them with others is to commit to your Sadhana. You can certainly feel, too, when a teacher does not practice. Their classes begin to feel dry and lifeless - they have lost the thread of the living practice. We must keep one foot in the river of the Sadhana to remain effective teachers. And so, each week, there will be two practice recordings added to your private Trainee portal through my website. Whether you are pregnant or not, I would like you to continue practicing prenatal yoga with these videos twice a week to learn to modify and make space for the pregnant body as well as gain inspiration in sequencing and theming your own prenatal yoga classes. Expect to spend 2-3 hours on personal Sadhana each week.

About Lily Dwyer Begg, your Lead Trainer:

Childbirth and motherhood have been my most transformative spiritual teachers and inform every aspect of how I live and teach. I teach an active style of prenatal yoga because I believe that empowered birth and motherhood require great strength and stamina in body, mind, and heart! Pregnant people are not injured or sick, they are training and conditioning for a major life event. My classes focus on physical stability, emotional integration, fostering community among students, easing common pregnancy discomforts, and holding space for students to open to the fullness of their experience.

  • My goals as a prenatal yoga teacher are threefold:

    1. to help you feel as strong, integrated, comfortable, and capable as you can in your shifting and changing body each day during pregnancy

    2. to support your nervous system and protect your grounding so that you are capable of meeting your child’s birthing day with calm, deep trust in your experience, and a feeling of empowerment - no matter what kind of birth you envision or have.

    3. to practice prenatal yoga wisely thinking forward to best support the most efficient recovery postpartum.

I have practiced for over two decades and taught yoga full time since 2006. I have taught in yoga studios internationally, worked with an NBA basketball team, an NCAA diving team, professional dance companies, and therapeutically with private clients and pregnant people across the globe.

I have studied with Shiva Rea, Ana Forrest, Christina Sell, Don and Amba Stapleton, David Moreno, yoga for scoliosis with Elise Browning Miller, Ayurveda with Kameko Shibata, Prenatal yoga with Marisa Toriggino, and Hypnobirthing with Yael Tober Quittner. A former massage therapist specializing in Sports Massage and Deep Tissue work, I have studied anatomy with Art Riggs and Thomas Myers. I currently make my home in Baltimore with my husband and two young sons.
