Join me for a strong, sweaty Vinyasa class via Zoom for my 8th annual Giving Class. Thursday, November 26, 7-8 am PST.
Before you gather with friends or tie on your apron and get out the butternut squash, start your Thanksgiving with a positive vibration in your heart and bodymind. It’s a wonderful way to ground into gratitude ahead of the holiday.
100% of proceeds will be donated to Walnut Avenue Family and Women’s Center in Santa Cruz, which provides material and social services support to survivors of domestic violence.
What to expect: a strong, well-rounded flow that is SIMPLE but NOT EASY. It’s accessible to all levels, with no advanced poses or gymnastics feats, but you’ll work and push into your edges a bit. Bring your sister-in-law, or the cousin who hasn’t practiced in a while and definitely doesn’t do scorpion handstands. They’ll still leave feeling strong, safe, supported, and AMAZING.
Why this cause matters to me
My very first yoga teaching job, in 2006 and fresh out of my 200-hour training, was at the Women’s Daytime Drop-In Center in Berkeley, CA. WDDC helps people experiencing homelessness and domestic violence step back into their power through social services, hot meals, donations, and programming.
That job showed me that as much as we talk about yoga as a path to liberation, and to breaking cycles of pain and suffering within, we have so much work to do collectively to support the people who need it most. Domestic violence can be a very hard cycle to break. It’s intergenerational and internalized. When your security and sustenance, and your children’s, come from someone who is unsafe, it takes tremendous courage to walk away and ask for help. That’s why this cause speaks to my heart in the biggest way. 🫶
Can’t make it live? Many of you have told me you’d still like to donate. I’ll send everyone who registers an HD recording so you can do the flow on your own time. Register by 5 pm PST 11/25, to get the Zoom link before class. If you register after that, I’ll send the recording.
