Breathe deeply and allow spaciousness.
We meet in the vast spacious embrace of breathtaking mountains, starry night skies, and expansive orange blossom-scented gardens. The moment you arrive, just 45-minutes drive from the vibrant chaos of Marrakesh to the peaceful sanctuary of our high mountain home, your body unplugs from everything that makes you grind, and you immerse in something deeper, wider, and more expansive. The magic has already begun and yet we will only go deeper inward through a week of potent yoga practices. Limited to 11 rooms, this intimate, one-of-a-kind, slow-travel and yoga retreat experience is designed to bring you the sense of spaciousness in body and mind you have been aching for. This is the ultimate retreat week, designed with deep intentionality to reframe what it really means to retreat as it re-sensitizes body, spirit, and imagination to what opens within when we choose to slow down and open up to the beauty that is already/always all around us.
join us for a great exhale into your spacious nature.

The perfect retreat location
Unwind and reconnect in nature’s embrace. Though just a 45-minute drive away from the hustle of Marrakech, our retreat home is a place where time seems to slow down, and you are enchanted to do less, to pause and linger, to gain perspective, and soak in the serenity of the landscape. With 360 degree panoramic views, kasbah Bab Ourika receives warm sunlight all day ending in spectacular sunsets.
..."There is a quality of silence, up here in the clear, still air, a sense of timelessness that tricks you into believing that the fortress-like building, with its rose earth walls and cool courtyards, might have been here for ever, a symmetrical extrusion from the hillside itself..."
- Harpers Bazaar

The Retreat Center
“A mere 45 minutes from Marrakech (and reportedly less from the airport), the Kasbah Bab Ourika emerges from the impossibly lush, mountainous countryside of the Ourika Valley with an eco-friendly perch that surveys the nearby river; green fields; groves of olives, oranges, and lemons; and views that include the snow-topped peaks of the nearby mountains. The hotel itself is impeccable—luxurious, subtle, and possessing only 11 rooms for the utmost privacy and an unforgettable stay. (I entered, dropped my bag, and begged to stay forever.) The unflappable front desk is ready and prepared to arrange day treks or visits to local sights. I promise you, you won’t want to leave the grounds.”
- Vogue Magazine
slow down
Above all, the kasbah offers peace and relaxation in unique surroundings. Smell the jasmine and orange blossoms, take in breathtaking views of the High Atlas Mountains, enjoy decadent treatments at the onsite spa, meander through traditional Berber Villages, trek through the National Park, breathe gratitude under starry clear night skies, and relish the serene and peaceful environment that holds us here on retreat so that you to drop deeply in and just be. This enchanting location will fill your body and soul with positive energy.
pamper
And don’t forget their gorgeous Beldi Spa where you can indulge in a pampering session: traditional hammam, massages, beauty treatments using natural and locally sourced beauty products that harness the rich botanical diversity of the region and incorporate indigenous ingredients known for their therapeutic properties.
explore
Your retreat home is not only a luxurious relaxing spa oasis but also a gateway to discovering the rich culture and splendid surroundings of the region. Delight in an exploration of the senses, a journey into the heart of Morocco's natural and cultural wonders. Enjoy a guided trek through the Atlas Mountains and experience a taste of Berber life as you pass through the local villages.
spacious nature
Ever notice how when you stay with your breath it softens and becomes more spacious? Stay with what is and space will come through. Stay with your breath. Stay with your body. Stay here a little longer. What we feel we can heal. The Buddhist scholar Michael Stone said, “Wanting to fix your problems so that they go away has behind it a fantasy of being pure that's hard to notice. So instead of wanting our problems to go away, we are just going to stay with them, breathing with what's here until space arises.”
With 360 degree panoramic views, Kasbah Bab Ourika receives warm sunlight all day ending in spectacular sunsets.
The swimming pool is set in a warm declivity and surrounded by orange-trees. Billowing clouds of jasmine and bougainvillea wash over you as you swim; there's the buzz of bees and the call and answer of cuckoos from nearby hills.
At the Kasbah the interiors have been developing through the years along with the evolution of the hotel. They reflect a wish to be faithful to the nature that surrounds us as well as our passion for handicrafts, Berber legacy and beauty.
Savor the rich and vibrant taste of Morocco at Kasbah Bab Ourika, where every dish is a harmonious blend of traditional Moroccan flavours and modern gastronomic artistry, creating a truly unforgettable dining experience.
Your Rooms
We have exclusive access to the retreat center during your time there, so you can really unwind and make yourself at home.
Relax in individually decorated rooms with their own terraces, unwind by the secluded swimming pool or enjoy the different and spectacular landscapes that surrounds us in a quiet corner of our luxurious gardens. The original architecture and eclectic interiors are an ode to the Berber culture and Moroccan history and lifestyle. Featured in Vogue and Elle Magazines as well as the set of the Netflix movie Lonely Planet with Liam Hemsworth and Laura Dern, here you can experience an oasis of understated 5-star luxury with rooms and suites that feature sumptuous textiles and authentic design touches focusing on using locally sourced natural materials and handicrafts.

The Food
Awaken your senses. Breakfast and dinner are included in your retreat rate.
Dining on retreat hits different. Float out of practice to a communal dining table, fragrant cooking wafting into the air. After practice, we crave nutrient dense, vibrant, colorful, healthy meals to fuel our active days. On retreat you can really savor and slow down. The dining table becomes a social space to gather and open into heartfelt conversation, savor incredible stories, and make new friends that will last a lifetime.
Our hosts at Kasbah Bab Ourika are passionate about produce. They source the freshest organic ingredients available from their own kitchen gardens and nearby markets to prepare artisanal cuisine. Menus reflects the seasons and location. Moroccan and international dishes are all featured from healthy and delicious breakfasts, light menus for lunch by the pool, exotic picnics, nutritious hiking packs and Bab Ourika specialties for intimate night time dining. Our menus are a mixture of Moroccan traditional delicious dishes and global cuisine with nuances of Mediterranean flavours. The sophistication comes from the mixture of influences and the excellent quality of the produce.
Food here is simply beautiful, tasty and healthy.
The Practice
Location affects practice. Being surrounded by enchanting gardens and majestic mountains, we feel grounded stable and expansive. The wide open spaces and vistas afforded from this unique retreat location is an unabashed invitation to open your perspective. Melt into nature’s embrace and feel spaciousness and ease return to body, heart, and mind.
Playful Morning Flow: Start your day with an athletic Vinyasa Flow to help you feel your most strong, flexible, centered, and free. Drop into a moving meditation under the metronome of your Ujjayi Breathing in an enclosed jungle view studio . Expect to sweat, connect to core, and experience a well rounded yoga flow that awakens every sinew and cell.
Afternoon Somatic Practice is an invitation to all levels of your Being to slow down. Our afternoon sessions are designed to deepen compassion and awareness, nourish your nervous system, and re-awaken neural pathways. These practices are all experienced low to the ground on a mat covered in a yoga blanket, gently and fluidly. Somatic Movement practice feels akin to vinyasa in the linking of breath and movement, yin yoga in the the deliberate slowing down and attuning to deeper held sensations, Yoga Nidra in the dive under the radar of habit and forcing, and myofascial release in the integrated opening of large swaths of fascia that run head to toe.
"Lily provides an invigorating, transformative yoga practice and a holistic approach that invites retreaters to uncover, work through, and renew their life energy. To me, this is what a yoga retreat is all about."
-Liz Lord, Maryland
a note from your guide:
With 18 years experience leading yoga retreats all over the world - from Maui, Hawaii to Positano, Italy to NorCal Wine Country to the Greek Cycladic Islands - one thing I love about retreats is how different settings inspire our yoga practice, tenderize our hearts, and open our minds. Both travel and yoga are catalysts to shift perspective, open our life force where we feel blocked or stagnant, and realign with meaning and direction in our lives.
So often in the hustle and stress of life back home, we disconnect from three threads that support and uplift our wellbeing: connection to nature, connection to creative embodiment, and meaningful connection to community that fosters a profound sense of belonging and joy.
On retreat, I love seeing students faces relax and years of tension and deeply embedded stress melt off folks’ shoulders as they deepen into the magic of retreat and let the magic of yoga wash over them like a healing salve.
Choosing to come on retreat means we must consciously choose to close down some of the pulls on our attention back home - and this allows us to open the door to a deeper relationship to embodiment and spirit through yoga immersion, self inquiry, meditation, compassion, humor, and open-ended time and space in nature to feel it all. The version of self that returns home is inevitably rearranged, awakened, and transformed by the experience of retreating. A retreat is unlike any other form of travel. Retreats are my favorite way to share yoga practice so that it touches all layers of Being most profoundly. Celebrate a newfound connection to the vibrancy within your body, mind, and soul by joining us on a sacred journey inward.
"Lily has an almost prescient way to meet her students 'where they are' with respect to language, modifications and assists. I came away from the retreat feeling stronger in my practice, yet content with where I am and with a clear path to how I might get there."
-Karen McKenna, Maryland
