Immunity Boosting Flow and Flow for when you are recovering from illness
I made this flow recovering from a nasty case of Strep Throat that knocked me off my feet for a couple of days. My intention was to create a Flow for my students that would boost their immune systems as we step into cold and flu season: lots of forward folds, heart openers, inversions, and supported poses. This is a mellowed out flow you can do on the tail end of illness to revive yourself. There isn’t a lot of strenuous or strength building work that would zap your energy. We start with Thymus Tap to stimulate the immune system, move into gentle neck/shoulder/chest stretches to open up around a sore throat or a cough in the chest or sinus congestion. From here we rest into a propped up Child’s Pose and propped up DFD with headrest. We explore supported backbends to flush the lymphatic system opening around the chest and the pelvis to support our immune function. As we draw into our restorative flow, we build from a quadruped lateral flow into sun salutations. Long hangs, squats, ankle mobility work then move us into headstand, supported bridge, and shoulderstand. We finish with a Prone, Propped up Savasana.
