Spring Session: 6 Thursdays 6-7:30 pm

April 11 - May 16

Cedarcroft Center, Hart Hall

6112 York Rd, Baltimore, MD 21212

My Spring 6 week session will be housed at Hart Hall of Cedarcroft Center near Belvedere Square.

I can’t wait to welcome you for a six week deep dive into the practice together to deepen your breath, ground, strengthen, open, and flow in community. Each week is grounded in a unique physical, energetic, and philosophical theme.

Week 1: Tether Yourself: Pelvic Girdle to Feet, Grounding, Mobility, Stability. In this class we introduce ourselves to one another and to our beautiful practice space. We clarify and set an intention for the 6 weeks ahead. We explore the delicious enlivening of boundless nerve endings through the soles of our feet to set a joyful foundation and observe the connection of ankle mobility and lumbar/sacral/pelvic movement fluency that forms the arc of all movements on the mat.

Week 2: Ignite your Core: ignite the spark down into the deepest layers of your center. You will know your Mula Bandha and Uddiyana Bandha after this class. Apply Lily’s central teaching concept of Floor to Core - setting a solid foundation by rooting firmly through your feet and drawing energy up from the earth to envliven your core. And practice tethering from your pelvic girdle or shoulder girdle (whilst upside down) down into your feet (or hands!) to stabilize and balance.

Week 3: Be Like Water: Hip Opening all ways. Today, you will learn the Gayatri Mantra and what makes it meaningful in the yoga tradition. In this class and open yourself to the nectar of flowing in all ways and releasing long held tensions around the pelvic center. You will learn the deeper meaning of Lily’s teaching mantra, “feel don’t force” and how this can help you deepen your connection to body, spirit, and practice. Expect a slow burn and a whole lot of sweetness.

Week 4: Detoxifying Twists: where can you let go to receive more? So often when things get intense on or off the mat, our natural response is to hold on tighter. What if there was another way? Can you breathe deeply when you are in a bind? Both on and off the mat? Learn to flow to let go. You will understand the anatomy of your spine and how to optimize your twists in this class. Stimulate your vagus nerve with the deep replenishing unwinding that twists flush and release from center to periphery.

Week 5: Open your heart: Back body strong, front body open! You will identify your body’s own individual area of deepest potential growth to tap into to progress efficiently, joyfully, equanimously into your backbends. (is it your hip flexors? your wrists? your thoracic spine? your shoulders? let’s check it out together and create a gameplay for you!). Shaky legs, open heart - you will practically fly out of this class.

Week 6: Flirt with your Fears: Exploring inversions. In this class we will create a solid map for you to get upside down. What is needed biomechanically, anatomically, technically? How can you optimize your approach to getting upside down? What arises when you try something that you cannot do on the first try? How can you stay in your process without judging, quitting, forcing when you are in the spaces in between?
